Engel

Executive Director, Global Compact Network Germany

Marcel Engel joined the Global Compact Network Germany (GCNG) as Executive Director in 2016. GCNG includes some 500 participants and programs on business and human rights, environment and anticorruption, as well as cross-cutting activities on reporting and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

Between 1997 and 2014, Mr. Engel worked at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) at senior level positions, including as a member of its Executive Management Team, and he was responsible for the Global Network of partner organizations in 70 countries as well as the Social Capital Focus Area.

From 1994 to 1996, he worked as a professional officer at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Mexico. Marcel holds master’s degrees in international relations and development studies from the University of Constance and The London School of Economics, as well as a Swiss Hotel Management diploma.
