Chief Executive Officer, Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens

Monika Fröhler is the Chief Executive Officer of the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens since January 2018. The Centre is co-chaired by the former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and former President of the Republic of Austria, Heinz Fischer.

Since 2005, Ms. Fröhler has built a career in the multilateral sphere and she advised the former UNSG, ministers, UN USGs, permanent representatives and ambassadors to the United Nations, in Geneva, Vienna and New York.

Before her time as CEO of the BKMC, Ms. Fröhler worked for Sustainable Energy for All, a United Nations and World Bank Initiative. As part of the team of the former UN Undersecretary-General and Special Representative for Sustainable Energy for All, Kandeh Yumkella, she was assisting in building up the UN SEforALL Secretariat in Vienna.

During her years in the service of the Austrian Foreign Ministry, she was press spokesperson and advisor to two Austrian State Secretaries of Foreign Affairs.
