Asuka Kähler

Fridays for Future activist

Asuka Kähler is a non-binary Fridays for Future activist currently living in Frankfurt am Main. Asuka has been politically active since the first Fridays for Future global strikes, around spring 2019. Starting in Frankfurt, Asuka quickly participated in many Germany-wide projects, but is currently mainly involved in strategy and press work.
Asuka’s activism is heavily influenced by intersectional perspectives and focuses on the issue of climate justice and anti-capitalism (as well as anti-racism and feminism). These were issues that, according to Asuka, were still too short in the movement until the beginning of 2020.

About The

Organization

Fridays for Future is a youth-led climate justice movement that started in August 2018, when 15-year-old Greta Thunberg sat in front of the Swedish parliament every Friday to demand climate action from her government. Her school strike for the climate quickly spread to other countries, and today, students around the world are skipping school every Friday to demand climate justice.
